This is an '89 CRX si. I bought it brand new when I was in college. The CRX si was a great car back then. It had decent power and handled great. I remember getting over 35mpg back then. I remember Honda had an "HF" High Fuel version that got 60mpg. It was originally red and stock for a year or so until I started the build.

I started off with the standard mods, like air intake, headers, drop kit, etc. Then I really got into the JDM stuff. I thought it was so cool. So I did my research and started making some phone calls.

The wheels came first. These are old school SSR Hiro V1-R's that I imported directly from Japan. They were 15 x 6 all the way around with 195-50's.

Then I brought in the body kit. And, of course, if you want to go JDM on an Honda you gotta go Mugen. So that's what I did, I brought in a full Mugen body kit. The kit basically replaces half of the car down. The kit included the rear spoiler.

The tinted taillight lens was also JDM.

The paint was done by TNA. They specially mixed the candy orange for me. They called it Burnt Orange Sikkens Special.

I had the car in a bunch of car shows, as well as Hawaiian Cruisers magazine. This was actually the last issue of the magazine. I was fortunate enough to make the front cover.

Here are the pics.
